Le Moulin de la Bourgognade: B & B 4 km ST FOY LA GRANDE

Chambres D’hôtes/ Bed & Breakfast
Avec piscine couverte/Indoor pool

Situated in the small hamlet of St Phillippe du Seignal, 18km from Bergerac, 75km from Bordeaux and 4km from Ste Foy la-Grande, which has 5 supermarkets and many shops.

The mill was built in the early 1600's and has been beautifully restored along with our gite “Hirondelle”, to a very high standard. We offer 2 large chambres d’hôtes rooms, both with en suite shower rooms.

The 10m x 5m swimming pool is indoor, fully alarmed and has patio doors along one side which open on the hottest days but retain the warmth on cooler days. The pool can be heated during low and mid seasons at a reasonable additional cost.

Room and Breakfast from 55€ to 75€ per night
Children, under 10 (max 2), sharing parents room £10 - (15€) per night
Children under 2 (max 2), sharing parents room, free of charge

Tea and coffee making facilities.

The buildings are set around a large gravelled courtyard that is entered through an electrically operated security gate making the grounds safe and secure.
With children in mind we have ensured that there is no direct access to the millpond or river.

Saint Philippe du Seignal is only 4kms from the bustling Bastide town of Ste Foy-la-Grande, which offers no fewer than 5 large supermarkets. There is also a good range of shops, restaurants and bars as well as an excellent local market every Saturday.

Drive through lovely rolling vineyard scenery to the famous Chateau de Monbazillac and the lively market town of Bergerac.
Just a few kilometres from the Mill is the famous golfing haven of Chateau des Vigiers with more challenging courses at Medoc (north of Bordeaux - 55 minutes).

Cycling and rambling are pleasant pastimes more or less year round in this area, and of course the wine-lover is more than adequately catered for with wine-growing Chateaux sign posted at seemingly every minor crossroad.

The 100 years war was ended in nearby Castillon-la-Bataille (20 minutes away) - and the French celebrate this every year with mock battles.

For local fishing, we are situated on the river Seignal which, as you will see from the picture on our website, has been widened to form a mill pond a meter or so deep which contains; mirror carp, catfish, perch and something similar to roach. There are many local lakes and ponds in the area which are stocked with a variety of species, including some big carp and trout, and we are only 5 minutes from the Dordogne river with 33 types of fish, where fishermen are the only rare species around.

Situated between the Dordogne valley and the Atlantic coast in the South West of France, Bordeaux-Gironde is a most welcoming area, with its great wines, superb food and fine golf courses.

The region can boast more than 120 km of sandy beaches, vineyards, pine forest, lakes and a 75 km-long estuary, and is home to historic sites such as the Grotte de Lascaux, the delightful medieval towns of St. Emilion and Sarlat, and the world-famous Bordeaux wine Châteaux.

With 12 golf clubs offering 20 very different high quality golf courses and top hotel facilities, Bordeaux-Gironde deserves to become a favored golfing destination. Visiting golfers are assured of a warm welcome and good value for money; most of the courses can be played using golf passes (affording special tariffs for visitors - more information at the clubs) as they are working together to help promote themselves and give visitors the opportunity to experience a variety of courses.

Arcachon on the Atlantic coast, just half and hour south of Bordeaux, has the largest sand dune in Europe. It offers spectacular views from the top across the bay and is famous for oysters and mussels. Great surfing beaches too.
