A lovely old stone cottage with private terrace located within the grounds of a 100 acre private woodland estate. Le Coquelicot is a small completely independent stone cottage sympathetically restored to give one bedroom accommodation with a private terrace. Use of hot tub / jacuzzi. Sleeps 2

The cottage is attached to the old stone barn next to the main house. The entrance is up a flight of stone steps which also give access to the rear private terrace overlooked from the bedroom. There is a shower room and wc, open plan living room with fitted kitchen, cooker, fridge, microwave and washing machine, dinning/breakfast table. Double bed + Sofa bed in sitting room.

The lounge has a fold down double sofa bed and armchairs, plus television (French). There are exposed beams and a view out the small window across the valley. The whole cottage has been tastefully decorated and is attractive and inviting, ideally suited to a couple but it can accommodate four.

THE LOCATION

The property is located a short drive from the local village, approached by a private road leading up the hill through the woodland on to the open plateau at the top. Guests at the cottage may have use of the hot tub / jacuzzi found at the other side of the barn. Just outside the cottage you will discover some wonderful views across the valley to the nearby Chateau de Montreal.

Local shops and supermarkets are a ten minute drive away.You can enjoy eating in, dining al-fresco on the terrace or going out to one of the local and inexpensive restaurants. For that special meal the owners would recommend La Ferme-Auberge de Biorne a restaurant about 15 minute drive just outside the nearby village of Lunas. Here you may enjoy traditional cuisine, specialities include Canard (Duck) a l'orange, Civet de canard, Cailles au fois gras, Cassoulet, Magret, Confit and Fois gras poele. Dine inside or out on the terrace and at a very reasonable price, reservations are essential. The Perigord is renowned for it's gastronomy and is the best value for money in the whole of France.

Staying at the property provides an ideal place to relax and unwind. There are several well signed footpaths which cross the forest and valley so you can enjoy the simple pleasure of a walk in the beautiful countryside.

THE AREA

The location is an excellent point from which to set out and explore all that the Dordogne has to offer. You may choose to take the 'route des vins' around Bergerac or visit St Emilion, the region is world famous for it's wine, which you can sample and perhaps take home with you.

The area is full of history and pre-history, from chateaux to caves and cave dwellings, plus wonderful medieval stone villages. Enjoy just strolling around the villages or for the more energetic try canoeing. The pace of life is slow and calm and the climate is very agreeable.

Please note that a security / damages deposit of 150€ is payable direct to the owners on arrival. This may be by cheque or cash and the cheque may be in the currency equivalent of the amount in euros. The cheque will be returned to you (cancelled) by post 14 days after the end of your holiday. For cash deposits a cheque in euros drawn on a French bank account will be sent to you.

Owner asks that you arrive at the property after 4:00 PM and leave before 10:00 AM..
