Jamie

The medieval town of Excideuil is just 10 mins away to the north, where excellent local Thursday market is not to be missed. The capital of the Dordogne, Périgueux, is only 25 mins away, where the impressive Byzantine Cathedral lies beside a maze of medieval streets and shops. To the south of the City, extensive Roman remains have been excavated, including a Villa, now beautifully displayed under cover. The many Gallo-Roman artefacts found here are to be seen in the fine Museum, where there is also a superb Prehistoric collection, including the world’s oldest complete Neanderthal skeleton (70,000 BC).

Tariff:
Room per night inclusive of breakfast 55 Euros

Charges for painting sessions and use of Art studio available on request.

Falconry

Come to our Falconry and meet such favourites as Zorro, the Peregrine falcon, Alex the Saker falcon and Rufus the European Eagle Owl. We are open each Tuesday afternoon from 14.00 to 18.00 hours, when we give a talk introducing the Birds and their training. If you would like to share some "hands-on" experience with our birds you might also like to book in with us for group visit on other days as convenient. We request a donation of 5Euros per person to provide the food for the birds, and 3Euros for under-12s.

Zorro

Children are, of course, most welcome, but dogs tend to upset the birds, so should be left outside! There is a bar and restaurant available within three minutes walk.

We now have an artists’ studio available, not only for guests, but for anyone wishing to book with us for painting or photographic sessions with the birds. Lunch can be arranged at the local restaurant. Contact us for details and charges.
